The Artist

Abdelaziz ABDOUSS
Beyond the Simulacrum
Rather than questioning the body as a mirror of the moods of his time, here is an artist who raises questions about the body as a springboard for painting guided by expressiveness and spontaneous gesture. The painting of Abdelaziz Abdouss suggests, from the outset, a deliberate break with a figurative heritage whose inspiration or profession the artist cannot deny.
A self-taught painter, he spent nearly seven years working in a studio, in the company of a famous French painter, an experience crowned by a rather rare mastery of the secrets and recipes of painting. The visual artist has worked in the shadows for too long, having not at all been in a hurry to exhibit his creations.
